Question 1

How do I find a good mithai shop near me in Slough?

Accepted Answer

Search on Google Maps, then shortlist shops with strong recent reviews and a Food Hygiene Rating of 4 or 5. Visit at least once, ask when the sweets were made, and taste before buying a large box.

Question 2

How long does fresh Indian mithai last?

Accepted Answer

Dry and nut sweets such as kaju katli and besan ladoo usually keep for about a week. Milk and syrup sweets last two to four days in the fridge. Rasmalai and rabri are best eaten within a day or two.

Question 3

Should mithai be kept in the fridge?

Accepted Answer

Milk based and syrup sweets should be refrigerated in an airtight box. Dry sweets like soan papdi and ladoo are fine at cool room temperature. Bring chilled sweets out about 20 minutes before serving so the flavour opens up.

Question 4

Can I order Indian sweets online in Slough?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Several local shops now take online orders for collection or delivery. This is the best option during Diwali, when queues are long and popular items sell out.

Question 5

How far in advance should I order mithai for a wedding?

Accepted Answer

For a wedding, speak to the shop four to six weeks ahead to agree on sweets, packaging and delivery. Confirm final numbers about one week before the event.

Question 6

Is pure ghee mithai worth the extra cost?

Accepted Answer

For most people, yes. Pure ghee gives a richer taste and better texture, especially in ladoo, Mysore pak and halwa. The price difference per box is usually small compared with the difference in flavour.
